DMH are awesome! These guys really do know their stuff. They handle the technical side of things that I was not able to understand. They also have full knowledge of what is needed in the digital market place to get a business up and running. Add the drive and enthusiasm that both Hilde and Cam have for project managing it’s an ‘A’ team everyone needs for their business.

Finding DMH takes all the stress out of running and compiling your website in todays market place. It’s one of the best decisions I made putting my business out there into the digital world.

Andy Clegg

Director, Cairns Airport Transfers

Background

Cairns Airport Transfers (CAT) is a local Cairns private transfer company with over 10 years of local experience. With the heavy downturn in tourism in Far North Queensland due to Covid-19, the business was struggling in a highly competitive market.

Relying heavily on word of mouth and third party agencies, CAT’s website had been developed by another web design agency without any consideration given to effective SEO strategies. As a result the business was struggling, with zero monthly site visitors recorded at the time of engaging us for assistance. In fact, the average search engine results page (SERP) with Google for key search terms was page 7 or 8.

Company Director, Andy Clegg approached us to develop a competitive online presence for his current website. His goal was to attain a page one Google ranking for highly competetive keywords and increase site visits and engagement.

Tasks

After consultation with Andy, we developed a digital marketing plan specific to search engine optimisation. We also planned a comprehensive website update including copywriting for new and relevant site content.

As with all our SEO work, we conducted a thorough review of CAT’s highest ranking competitors to gain a clear understanding of what was required to get the site onto page one of a Google search.
As the brief included a site refresh and not a rebuild, we updated the general look and feel of the Cairns Airport Transfers website on the existing GoDaddy platform. We added an FAQ page, a blog page and created relevant content. We also optimised all images and headings and added some code to better represent the pricing tables in mobile view.

The project budget allowed for a single block of work to be conducted. It did not included monthly monitoring, monthly content creation or SEO edits for Google ranking improvements. Basically, it meant that we did a tonne of work and then watched what happended next. This is a rarity for us as we prefer to keep working on site improvements over a 3-6 month minimum period for optimal results.

Outcomes

As mentioned above, Digital Marketing Hub conducted a single block of work for Cairns Airport Transfers. Naturally, I continued to monitor the website to ensure the relevant keywords were moving upwards and I would email Andy to let him know the good news.

Within 5 months, Cairns Airport Transfers was ranking on page one of a Google search engine result page (SERP) for 2 relevant keywords. That’s an awesome result, considering that those search terms were originally ranked on pages 7 and 8 AND no further work has been conducted since completing the project after the first month.

I always say that:

search engine optimisation is a long term investment in the future of your business

This project certainly proved that point.

Andy has since contacted us for future works on his website through the assistance of a Qld Business Basics grant.
